Subject: Trixbox Asterix VOIP PBX and impact of latency and jitter on VOIP calls
Presenter: Mike Pennacchi, Network Protocol Specialists, LLC

We will be taking a look at the Trixbox VoIP PBX. We will briefly look at how to install and setup the PBX. Additionally, we will use a WAN emulator to look at the impact of latency, packet loss, and jitter on Voice over IP phone calls. The analysis of the calls will be performed using the Wireshark and ClearSight protocol analyzers.

Mike Pennacchi is the owner and lead network analyst for Network Protocol Specialists, LLC. He has over 16 years experience as a full time troubleshooting consultant and trainer. Mike spent 9 years with PACCAR working as an application developer, LAN administrator, and Network Technology Manager. The next 6 years was spent at Pine Mountain Group, Inc. as a senior network analyst and trainer. During this time he traveled around the United States troubleshooting critical network problems. In 2007 he was the lead network engineer at the Interop tradeshow in New York, responsible for the design, construction and deployment of the world’s largest traveling network.
